Audit log

The Audit Log page lists the changes in your organization, with the newest change first. Only owners and admins can open it. To open it, go to Settings, then select Audit Log. The log records changes such as these:
  • A change to a variable or a secret. The log records the name, never the value.
  • A change to the SSO configuration.
  • A sign-in through SSO.
  • A box assignment that an owner or admin adds or removes.
  • A lock that someone takes on a box from the dashboard.
  • An account unlock, and a password reset link that an owner or admin creates.
  • A change to feature access.
To show fewer rows, use the filters above the table:
  • Action shows one type of change.
  • From and To show the changes between two dates.
Each page of the log shows 25 rows. To move between pages, select Previous or Next. Stout stores the entries of each organization in a hash chain, which links each entry to the entry before it.

Notifications

The bell in the top bar shows your notifications. A number on the bell shows how many notifications you did not read. When you open the bell, Stout marks all of your notifications as read. The notifications that were new stay highlighted until you close the list. The list shows your 15 newest notifications, and it checks for new ones every 30 seconds. To open the page that a notification links to, select the notification. A notification about a Lager release opens the release notes in a new browser tab. To delete all of your notifications, select Clear all. Stout deletes each notification after 90 days.

What Stout notifies you about

Stout checks for a new Lager release every 6 hours. When the IP address of a box changes, the notification includes a Lager CLI command. The command updates the box in the Lager box list on your computer. If your local name for the box is different, change the name in the command before you run it:

Choose your notifications

To choose the notifications that you get, open the bell and select the gear icon. You can also go to Settings, then select Notifications in the Personal group. Each switch turns one kind of notification on or off for you. The switches are in four groups: Product updates, Box access, Box changes, and Organization. Your choices apply in every organization that you belong to. Stout saves each change at once. When every switch is on, the button at the top of the page is Disable all Notifications. When a switch is off, the button is Enable all Notifications. While a switch is off, Stout does not send you that kind of notification. When you turn the switch on again, Stout does not send the notifications that it skipped. Every switch is on until you turn it off. This rule also applies to each new kind of notification that Stout adds later.

Changelog

The Changelog page lists the changes in each Stout release, and it shows the version that you use. To open it, select your avatar in the top bar, then select Changelog. You can also select What’s new in the footer.
